About

Rustic Healing is dedicated to improving your personal safety through emergency preparedness while contending with physical and psychological limitations. I strongly believe in the interconnectedness between surviving trauma and violent crime to chronic illness, including Lyme Disease, ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) PTSD, cardiovascular disorders as well as many other presentations.

I struggled with my health from an early age. I attribute this to being raised by practicing alcoholics in my immediate and extended family. Their unpredictability, irrational behavior combined with poor financial and personal decisions led to unresolvable family issues, frequent marital dissolutions and cataclysmic economic losses. I’ve lost multiple family members to substance abuse which left untreated is a family annihilator.

It wasn’t until I underwent intensive self-defense training that I began to regain my personal power and heal some very old and painful wounds. Once I learned how to control my personal space and defend my life, I was no longer scared to spend a night alone or go into a crowded store. As a result, I began taking steps towards emergency preparedness. The night I was abducted, I stopped at the grocery store on a whim. That unplanned trip nearly cost me my life. Today, I strive towards keeping a well-stocked kitchen to curtail unnecessary exposure to high-risk, routine places of business that we all frequent for survival.

I also live in a climate zone prone to disastrous weather events, where the power frequently goes out with minor provocation. Instead of being victimized by it, our home is outfitted with several alternative short duration power generators. Many of us, including myself, are not suited for complete, off-grid living.

Planning for self-reliance is critical for survival during an emergency. Our society is collapsing at a staggering rate. Counting on just-in-time provisions can place you in immediate danger. Water storage and filtration, canned goods and a way to heat a small pot of water, plug in a medical device or window unit AC can mean keeping you safe until the dust settles. The shock of infrastructure failure can lead to panicked based decisions and loss of life.

I’m also a Jesus girl on duty. Much love to everyone stopping by. It’s never too late to learn how to defend yourself. Don’t count on anyone to do it for you or to understand the unique journey you’re taking to protect yourself. Self-reliance skills can pull you through tough times. Furry friends also help!
